About Michael A Chizner, MD
Michael A. Chizner, M.D., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.C., F.A.H.A., is a nationally renowned cardiologist, and the Founder and former Chief Medical Director of The Heart Center of Excellence at Broward Health, one of the nation’s largest health care systems based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

He is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University, the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University, the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University, and Barry University.
Dr. Chizner graduated with highest honors from the Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University where he was selected a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. He received his residency training in Internal Medicine at the New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center, and his cardiology fellowship training with legendary cardiologist, W. Proctor Harvey, M.D., at Georgetown University, where he was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Dr. Chizner is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the sub-specialty Board of Cardiovascular Disease. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Council on Clinical Cardiology of the American Heart Association, and the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Chizner is a highly accomplished cardiac clinician-diagnostician, widely known for his clinical skills—especially in the art of auscultation—and his humanistic approach to patient care.
Among the many awards and accolades he has received, Dr. Chizner has earned the distinction of being recognized as one of the top 1% of physicians in the nation in such prestigious publications as America’s Top Doctors,

As physician, author, editor, and teacher, Dr. Chizner has contributed greatly to the practice of cardiology and the advancement of medical education. He has written and edited numerous articles, monographs, and books in cardiology, including the best-selling Clinical Cardiology Made Ridiculously Simple, that have become standards in cardiovascular education, and are now being used in medical schools throughout the United States and abroad. Dr. Chizner has served on the editorial advisory boards of national cardiology journals. He has also been director, lecturer, and keynote speaker at continuing medical education conferences. Dr. Chizner has long been involved in the instruction of medical students, residents, fellows, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, and was the founding Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program at Broward Health.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Dr. Chizner received a gubernatorial appointment to the Florida Board of Medicine, where he served as Chairman of the Credentials Committee, and was elected unanimously by his fellow board members as Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Board. As a result of his hard work and lifelong dedication to his profession and his patients, Dr. Chizner earned the honor of being selected as a recipient of the prestigious Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award.
